With Google activating 200,000 Android phones every day, and overtaking iPhone’s market share slowly, it could not get any better than this. Obviously, it attracts some envious eyes and they could help but drop the bomb to halt the success story. This is exactly what the US software specialist Oracle did by launching a copyright and patent infringement lawsuit against Google, claiming that the search engine giant’s mobile phone operating system uses elements of its technology.
According to Oracle spokesperson Karen Tillman:
In developing Android, Google knowingly, directly and repeatedly infringed Oracle’s Java-related intellectual property. This lawsuit seeks appropriate remedies for their infringement
Although Google has refused to comment on the suit since the company is yet to review the complaint, but the lawsuit from Oracle clearly seems to be the result and failure of antitrust laws in the US.
