Would recycling trash solve all woes or are strict guidelines needed?

As trash is increasing from year to year, it has been a worry for many countries. According to an article written in Foreign Policy magazine which covered the trash statistics, the world is throwing out 2 billion tons of garbage every year and the high-income residents generate 3.1 pounds of garbage per day and in Australia 1.6 million of computers are thrown in the landfills. That’s a lot of trash, isn’t it? This is the main concern for many countries to stop the trash going into the landfills, so proper guidelines should be made for trash and recycling. Recently San Francisco has taken an initiative to adopt strict guidelines for trash and recycling. If any person is seen throwing their stuff in a landfill, they will be charged a $500 fine from the trash collector.

Their are other cities in the US, Germany and many more who have taken such initiatives and have adopted strict laws to collect trash and recycling. In addition to the strict laws made from the government there are other green products too for collecting trash. Just look at a few of them:

BigBelly Solar Compactor: It is a trash container that is completely self-powered. Instead of requiring a grid connection, it uses 100% solar energy and has five times more capacity than an ordinary container. The increased capacity helps to reduce collection trips, fuel and greenhouse gas emissions by 80%.

Ovetto Recycling bin: A two-sided recycling bin separates plastic and aluminum in one container and was designed by Gianluca Solidi. It has a capacity of 15 to 17 liters requiring 25/35 liter bags. The bin is made from recycled polypropylene.

Recycled trashcan: It is made from 99% re-claimed automobile tires and recycled plastic trim. The 17” tall can has the capacity to accommodate grocery bags or 8-gallon liners. In addition to this, it has recycled brushed aluminum slats for support.

If the trash is completely recycled it can be turned into ethanol. In the US and Canada, trash-to-ethanol plants have been approved. There are other products that are made from trash like bags, shoes, clothes, toys, furniture and even homes.
