Germany maneuvered a smart, green move that also bagged the tag of the world’s first fuel cell-powered passenger boat for commercial use by launching the FCS Alsterwasser. Powered by twin fuel-cell motors produced by Proton Motor, it can carry up to 100 passengers at a time without leaving any carbon prints behind. Intended to cruise through the city of Hamburg, it sails by burning hydrogen without generating carbon dioxide.
Till date such a fuel cell system has only been developed for submarines used by the military. Hence this makes the ZemShip (Zero Emission Ship) the world’s first project resulting in a fuel cell-driven passenger ship.
Hope to see such eco-friendly passenger boats all over the globe to allow passengers to enjoy a green voyage with zero emissions.
