WatAir: Leaf-inspired low-tech can extract fresh water from thin air

The dew-drops on leaves in a mild morning may be soothing to our mind and refreshing for our feelings, but for a scientist, it may be something beyond that! This is clearly revealed by what two Israeli architects have come up with, inspired by the ‘dew-collecting properties of leaves.’

May not be as simple as nature does it, they have devised a low-tech way of turning dew into fresh, usable water! Yes, with the help of their invention, the scientists can extract a minimum of 48 liters of fresh water from the air, and that too, each day!

The award-winning ‘WatAir’ is an inverted pyramid array of panels, which are capable of collecting dew from the air, turning it into fresh water and that too, in almost any climate.

With this new technology, many remote and polluted places can also have an unlimited daily supply of water produced on-spot, making available clean, safe water to millions around the world.
