Wallbots – Robotic walls that move to suit your space needs

Developed by architect and technologist Otto Ng, the Wallbots is an innovative mobile wall system that responds to real-time information. The Wallbots mobile walls move automatically to reconfigure themselves to suit your space needs, depending on the elements like user behavior and weather data. Powered by electronic and kinetic, systems, Wallbots is a set of architectural intelligent agents. Wallbots can automatically stretch from 1m to 1.5m by expanding their origami skin and kinetic skeleton. These robotic walls can move freely to create a unique spatial boundary that changes from time to time.

With electromagnetic mechanism and infrared positioning feedback, Wallbots walls can attach to each other and they communicate wirelessly. The project was done at the University of Toronto’s Responsive Architecture at Daniels (RAD).
