After NYC, it’s Toronto hoping for a sustainable makeover of its Gardiner Expressway. Quadrangle Architects has plans to redesign and renovate the historic passageway on similar lines, i.e. NY City Highline Park’s green re-styling. It will be studded with wind turbines and photovoltaic panels to make it a self-powered construction.
Dubbed the “Green Ribbon” project, it will be a seven-kilometer stretch of greenery amid concrete edifices. The elevated section will rest atop cement pillars while latching on the roof structure. Another commendable feature offers traffic-safety to bikers and pedestrians that comprises some major intersections via ramps and flight of stairs.
