Telefonica’s ‘Distrito C’ with world’s largest rooftop photovoltaic installation

telephonica

The futuristic ‘Distrito C’ project is a combination of twelve structures – four phases for three buildings each connected to one another through a walkway. The design incorporates world’s largest rooftop photovoltaic installation with 15,300 photovoltaic solar panels on top of the walkway connecting the phases. These solar panels are efficient enough to collect 4 million KW hours annually.

The office is designed to unify 40,000 employees of Telefonica in Spain. Rafael de La- Hoz has designed Districto C and has installed a special glass, which reflects sun’s energy giving a visual look to the building. In order to reduce wastage, the minimalistic piece of architecture is made by keeping all construction and production processes simple. The rainwater harvesting system on top of each building takes care of the plants making it a truly green structure.
