Teatime with a Twist

Teatime with a Twist

This season, high tea is proving to be a popular pastime. If you are dreaming of throwing your own vintage tea party, then a teapot with a twist may be right up your street. After all, a quirky teapot can add an entertaining and colorful edge to an otherwise simple kitchen. The kitchen is one of the most well liked rooms in the house and is often where families come together after a long, hard day. Conversations over a pot of hot tea are not uncommon and such a distraction is a great way to unwind.

When choosing a teapot, or any other kitchen accessories for that matter, you should take a few factors into consideration. These include practicality, the style in comparison to that of your kitchen’s décor, the construction of the item and how easy it is to use.

Teapots come in a range of designs, shades and sizes. Some are square, some round and the more contemporary styles offer a range of innovative shapes. They are used to brew everything from green and black teas to herbal and fruit infusions.

Japanese inspiration

One style proving to be popular this year is the Japanese Tetsubin cast iron teakettle, which comes complete with a range of colourful china cups and trivets. Originally created in Japan and China, these quirky teapots boast a number of fine, raised relief designs. Each teakettle has a stainless mesh infuser and brags two uses: a teakettle for boiling water and a teapot for brewing and serving tea.

Glass teapot

Another trendy teapot is the glass teapot. Such a style is both microwave and dishwasher safe and can be used to brew a variety of different teas without retaining their flavours. They are also extremely contemporary in style, which means they are suited to the more modern home.

Brown Betty

The ‘Brown Betty’ is a long-standing design and boasts a simple style in terracotta clay. They were originally introduced in the 17th century and due to their unique shape, allow for wonderful infusion.

Kitchen accessories

As well as an array of teapots, there are a number of other kitchen appliances on the market today. Keeping your kitchen well stocked with practical yet stylish essentials is a great way to make cooking even more fun. A good place to start is with a number of different sized mixing bowls, a variety of colourful utensil pots, a set of kitchen scales and, of course, a teapot.
