How to tackle your child if he’s smoking pot?

It’s very true that teenage is a time when a child has to deal with various issues at the same time. From the first pimple to the first shave, they are worried about every single thing happening in their lives. But it is also true that teenagers’ parents have a difficult time too. They are more worried as at this age they have to be extra careful while dealing with their children. They have to keep a watchful eye over their kids without even hurting them as the kids face a lot of psychological pressure too. One of the most important things they have to keep in mind is the company their child is in, as children face a lot of peer pressure from their friends circle. One of the most common problems of peer pressure includes drug abuse, which not only affects physically but mentally and psychologically too. Hence it is very important to help your child to have best teen age. For that you have to be extra cautious and deal with your child in a thoughtful manner. Let’s know a few things which will help you to deal with the tough challenges concerning your child.

Knowing the terms:

Teenagers have a tendency of calling names for everything. Hence, to keep the things they are indulged in, they call it by different names. They may end up calling marijuana pot, grass or weed, or might even call it MaryJane! So, be careful and watch out for these names.

Symptoms showing that they are into it:

Whenever a person does anything wrong, no matter how much he wants to hide it, he tends to leave back some or the other clue of their wrong deeds. If you think that your child has indulged himself in this kind of culture, you have to look out for signs that will decide whether they are actually in it or not. This works as you will not like to start bombarding on your child without even knowing the reality. Hence you have to look out for the following signs.

1. Smell them:

If your kid smells like a pot, cloves, hookah, mint, or perfume, then you should have a word with them. To hide their doings, teenagers often take shelter of cloves, mint, or perfume as they hide the pot’s smell. They assume that they hide the smell of the pot. Hence their peer group may shower them with such options, so that they do not get caught. If you find any of these signs, act firmly with your kid and help them to get out of this problem.

2. Other related things:

While cleaning your kid’s room if you find pieces of rolling paper, small baggies, cloves cigarettes, and loads of eye drops then you have to be alert, as these signs are enough to know that your kid must be into it. Eye drops are used by the kids to hide their bloodshot eyes as their eyes reveal that they are into it.

3. Notice their behavior:

If your child has indulged into pot culture, the tendency of mood fluctuation is high. Of course they are in their teenage and mod fluctuation is normal but watch out if your kid has been behaving odd like extended giggling, does not look into your eyes, or just goes hops into his bed after returning home and extreme personality change. If you notice any of this behavior, talk to them. Also, even if your child is not indulged into it you must have a mature talk with them to help them deal with the problems of teenagers.

4. Unexpected loss or gain of money:

If you had just given your kid some amount of money for Christmas or his monthly pocket money. However, the money is gone in a couple of days and there is no explanation for it whatsoever. Also, if you see that your child has gained money without any explained sources ask them for an explanation. They could be into pot culture.

5. Not to panic:

Do not start bombarding questions on your kid even if you find an eye drop in their rooms. They must be genuinely having an eye problem. Even if you find any of the above signs, talk to them kindly and make them understand the ill effects of this pot culture and what problems they have to face because of indulging in it. Tell them that you care about them and will not want to see them in trouble.
