Do not have junk food in the house

Leave your children at home whenever you go for grocery shopping. Prepare a list to your items before going out. Do not go for unnecessary items in the market. Buy healthy snacks and food items for your home, leaving out junk food or fast food only for select occasions.

Do not allow your kids to drink their calories

Sometimes children lose weight by giving up sugary beverages. Parents generally ignore the amount of sugar they are giving to their children. One teaspoon of soda contain 10 teaspoon of sugar. Knowing this, remember not to allow your child to consume too much of sugary drinks. Avoid juices that contains sugar, a better option is to replace these sugary drinks with water or flavored seltzers.

Most children gain weight from eating too much healthy food not from junk food. One thing that every parent needs to remember is that all food has calories, and too many calories can be a cause to gain weight. Make sure you are giving appropriate portions of the meal to your children.

Plan a balanced diet for your child. Avoid food items that may lead to an uncontrollable eating. Food should not be off limits. It is okay to eat ice cream in special days or in occasions and limit it to an appropriate serving size.

Stop “clean plate club”

You can teach several goods things to your children about eating. Teach them to eat when they are hungry and stop when they are full. If you think they have not eaten enough, do not force them to eat more than they need.
