You can prepare a list of such activities with common references along your journey that involve different shapes, sizes, colors with trees, animals, hills, buildings and lot many resources that are a common occurrence in all road trips. Here is a list of 10 such activities that will give you an idea on how to create your own random games and activities that will keep your kids asking for more.

1. Make them count

While traveling, you will witness a lot of buildings. Ask them to count color specific buildings for the next 10 minutes and then ask them about their count. This will keep all the kids doing their own counting instead of getting restless in the moving vehicle.

2. Give them water soluble colors and a sheet

Give the kids a bunch of water soluble colors and ask them to draw what they remember best from their memory while traveling. Some kids come up with trees, some with vehicles and some with animals and buildings. This will make them creative and increase their memory power.

3. A to Z alphabet quiz

Give kids a task to rhyme everything they see from alphabet A to Z. Parents can participate with kids and make it more interactive and engaging for the kids. Kids will remember alphabets better through visuals and enjoy the whole learning process subconsciously.

4. Sing a song

Ask your kids to sing a song by repeating it after them and let it play at the same time on the music system of the vehicle. Stop and repeat the lines with your kids and make them have a jolly time with added noises and creative sound inputs.

5. Finding your digit

Give your kids an assignment with a specific number ranging from 1 to 100. Ask them to look for the number on the street and get back to you with the set of numbers assigned to each kid. Kids like to be involved in games that has a number count.

6. Hide and seek with colors

Give all kids a water soluble color pen and paper. Assign them specific colors they need to find. The first one who gets a count of 10 wins the game. Repeat the same by assigning different colors.

7. Don’t repeat the word

Create a list of words kids are forbidden to speak during the journey. Use common words like dad, mom, house, car, teacher and friends name. Anyone who utters the name during the conversation has to entertain others with a joke or a funny story as a punishment.

8. Making shapes with cookies

Small kids need something easier and upfront to involve into an activity. Give kids with broken pieces of cookies and ask them to make different shapes with it while they nibble on them. It is a great way to make them eat and enjoy at the same time.

9. Recognizing shapes with eyes closed

Give kids small bags filled with different objects lying in the car. Ask them to keep their eyes closed and recognize these shapes with a little hint. This will sharpen their mind and help them identify different shapes and sizes.

10. Creating shapes with Origami paper art

Carry paper sheets and make small boats and fighter plane by folding paper. Ask kids to look at you while creating these shapes. Give them a task to create the same with a bunch of paper sheets for every kid participating in the game.
