Reece Bathroom Innovation Award 2012 winners announced

Year after year, the Reece Bathroom Innovation Award, a product design competition open to students and professionals, have given us some amazing and innovative concepts. Now, the Reece BIA 2012 winners have been announced and all the winning entries (Professional & Student) are innovative in one way or the other. Gavin Harris grabbed the $20,000 first prize in the professional category, ShanShan Wang received the $10,000 prize as winner in the student category.   • Professional Winner – Shiro by Gavin Harris

The freestanding bathtub Shiro features round ergonomic ends, enough space for storage in the integrated cupboards and a circular basin. Shiro is a Japanese word that means “white” and symbolizes purity. There is a single waste point for the bathtub and one main spout that sends water to the taps for basin and bathtub.  Shiro bathtub is made from Cristalplant.

  • Professional Finalist – INVERSE by Adrian Levett

Combining sustainable timber elements with a contemporary design, INVERSE faucet replaces the metal lever with a timber touch. With a sleek, modern design, the INVERSE aims to highlight the use of environmentally friendly materials for stylish designs.

  • Professional Finalist – le terme by Fei Chung Billy Ho

The luxurious and high-tech “le terme” shower room boasts integrated smart media device and display panels, which are synchronized with your smartphone. Users can enjoy music, videos or make calls while relaxing in the shower room on the glass panels. The le terme features a stainless steel structure, antibacterial cypress wood base and OLED interactive glass panels.

  • Professional Finalist – System:Stem by Jonathon Ben-Tovim

The modular System:Stem shower system offers a neat solution to store your bathroom accessories. It looks like a regular wall mounted shower, but comes with attachments for your different needs, such as a shaving mirror or waterproof Bluetooth speaker. These attachments can be adjusted to suit your liking.

  • Student Winner – Koeda by ShanShan Wang

The Koeda is an intuitive mixer tap features a progressive cartridge offering a simple dial control. When you rotate the dial in a clockwise motion, water temperature changes from cold to hot slowly and further rotation gives you an increased water pressure flow. Handmade with porcelain, nature-inspired Koeda has six LED lights that indicate cold and hot water with different colors.

  • Student Finalist – Leaflet by Alfred Boyadgis

The Leaflet shower system enjoys minimalist looks and draws inspiration from nature for its design. The Leaflet features an anodized aluminum back plate and interface that makes for invigorating colored reflections. The Leaflet also remembers your pressure, temperature and outlet preferences, so that you don’t have to adjust them every time you go for a shower. There are two outlets for a fast or a long shower.
