“Viable resources” exhibition has just started on April 8, 2009 and will continue till 30 June 2009. For all art lovers, here is an opportunity to watch the exhibition at Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle. The show will feature fifty-three pieces of art made from recycled and re-purposed materials. Many artists have come up to show their creativity from recycled materials. The main purpose of bringing this diverse group of artists from local corporate and public collection is to work in a group and transform the exhibition gallery into recycled gallery.
Here are some of the contributing artists and their works:
• Marita Dingus used pull can’s pull tabs as well as electricity to design “Pull Tab Figure”.
• Evan Blackwell’s“Disposable Hero” bust is made from melted red and yellow cocktails swords.
• Lawrence Beck is showcasing “Walrus Sprit” from oil can spigots, dental mirrors and hubcaps.
• Meng Huang made toys from trash, discarded plastic forks to make thorny hair of a ceremonial mask and made cardboard dragon from crushed cigarette boxes.
• Diem Chau used crayon and wood to make “Girl and Dog”.
I think the artists’ effort is truly a positive step in highlighting what lies ahead. I am inspired by this and looking forward to save the planet by reusing and recycling material. What about you?
