Polar bears likely to get endangered status

Polar bears likely to get endangered status

Climate change has affected a lot of things through out the world. Starting from plants to animals, almost everything is being influenced. It is predicted that the climate change will endanger polar bears as well. So the polar bear is more than likely to get the endangered status.

Here’s why the white furry animals will get extinct. The white coat of the bears allows them to blend in with the sheet ice. This hiding technique allows them to silently and discreetly hunt for the prey. The white fur on the bears give them plenty of time to creep up to the prey and attack. So, if there’s no ice there’s no food.

A 30 year satellite record shows the melting summer arctic ice. By 2050 or even sooner, scientists expect the North pole ice to completely disappear. So, it’s a given that with the disappearance of ice, the animals will vanish as well. Polar bears are one of the major animals that rely on the polar ice. It’s clear that they will vanish when the ice melts.

I am deeply saddened after reading about it. These amazing creatures should be protected at all costs and conservation efforts should be made. The irony is: With the US being the largest emitter of greenhouse gases, President Bush is going to decide the endangered status of the polar bear.
