Scientists have established a new laboratory that will enable them to clone plants equivalent of champion swimmer Ian Thorpe. This new laboratory has become operational from June 22 on the Atherton Tableland, in far north Queensland.

The lab will be able to reproduce as many as three million perfect plants and have facility with perfect hygiene standards similarly.

Clonal Solutions Australia director Peter Radke said:

What you’re aiming at is an environment that’s as clean as possible with the absolute minimum of bacteria and fungi and other small organisms like mites and so on because all of that will make it more difficult if you’ve got those present.

Plant cloning that produces the exact copies can be used for a lot many important commercial implications. The best varieties of plants can be produced commercially on a huge scale in a relatively short span of time. Cloning also helps in the production of the crop that is fast growing with more than one harvest in a year. The crops produced this way are of better disease-resistant quality.
