Papo & Yo, adventure game based on addiction and friendship

'Papo & Yo 3D puzzle adventure game

Eminent game design director Vander Caballero has roped in Salem and Rios to form a truly strange and unconventional pair of protagonist in his upcoming game. The gaming duo first project, ‘Papo & Yo’ will surely touch the hearts of gamers with its intense theme of addiction and friendship.

The Game

All geared up for this year’s release, Papo & Yo is a three dimensional or 3D puzzle adventure game that mainly revolves around a boy Quico and his best buddy monster. Monster is unfortunately addicted to poisonous frogs and once he ingests it, starts exhibiting an uncontrolled rage. Quico does his best to help Monster overcome his habit and that’s how the game follows, where Quico keeps on looking for an effective cure for Monster.

This game would be Minority’s debut on gaming arena ever since Caballero formed the company last year in collaboration with a production house ‘Rezolution Pictures’. Caballero describes the game as an ’emotionally evocative one’ much in tune to Minority’s description as ‘the home for passionate yet experienced developers who could not stand to produce another shooter game’.

Developer’s Word

It’s believed that Vander Cabarello’s game is inspired from his personal experience of his own father’s addiction of drugs and alcohol. Cabarello said that his father got entangled in the world of booze and drugs and he got trapped within it. The emotional touch lent in this game is actually a fable drawn from the disturbing relationship with his father. He recalls how he felt threatened when the sordid world of adults hovered around him. Cabarello, however admits, he did not feel like ‘Mario’ but much stronger and in control of a fantastic world around him. He enjoyed pinning ‘bosses’ those who were larger than life to him. He acknowledges Japanese video game designer and producer Miyamoto for making him capable of turning his dream come true.
