Storm Noel kills 48

Storm Noel seems to be on a direct collision course with the Bahamas, as a frantic island gears itself up for some possible serious damage. The tropical storm Noel, which has been wrecking havoc through the islands of the Caribbean & Cuba, is reportedly on its way for a disastrous rendezvous with the Bahamas. The storm left many homeless & left behind a trail of devastation as it took 48 lives so far.

While Dominican emergency services spokesman Luis Luna Paulino said on Wednesday that at least 30 people were killed due to the storm, another 18 were reportedly dead in the Islands of Haiti. Thousands of people were left to fend for themselves on the street against the elements & many were evacuated in time to minimize the losses.

The storm caused floodwaters and mudslides to disrupt normal life of in Caribbean. Despite the best rescue & precautionary efforts, about 150 are still reportedly stranded on their rooftops in the city of Jacmel.

By 11 ET on Wednesday, the storm was reported to be hovering at around 281km from the capital of Bahamas. With wind speeds already reaching 80 mph, expect some havoc if & when it does reach the island. While, the threat to Southern Florida has been ruled out for now, it seems most of the mainland is actually enjoying the cool climatic change Noel has brought with it.

Bahamas is gearing itself up for the impending disaster & many have rushed to grocery stores & gas stations to make sure they do not run out of stock. Government offices & schools have been already shut down as one can just hope that the storm Noel spares the island & mellows down taking a path towards some lonely spot in the Atlantic.
