The possible side effects of these medicines can be detrimental for you as well as the health of your baby. Therefore, natural remedies are the best solution for you. These remedies are harmless and extremely effective in arresting itching successfully.

Baking soda

Baking soda offers a great cure for itching during pregnancy. Even if you suffer from widespread itching, baking soda is your sure shot remedy. You can use baking soda while taking your bath. Alternatively, you can also use it as a localized emollient. For bath, you need to add a cup of baking soda in a tub of lukewarm water and take a generous bath with it. For local application, mix baking soda and water in 3:1 ratio. Now, insist upon spot application. Remove it only when it gets dry.

Oatmeal

Itching during pregnancy is also caused due to extreme dryness. In such situations, you will witness flaking of skin along with severe itching. Oatmeal is a wonderful remedy for itching due to dryness. It hydrates the skin, removes the dead cells and subsides the sensation, considerably. You need to prepare a semi thick paste by mixing one or two cups of oatmeal with warm water. Further, you should batter the ingredients into a smooth paste. Now, take generous amount of the oatmeal paste and rub it gently over the affected area. Wash off with plain water and discover smooth skin without any itching at all.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is well known for its anti inflammatory and anesthetic attributes. A few drops of lemon juice can relieve you successfully from itching, when you are pregnant. Moreover, the aroma of fresh lemon will rejuvenate you instantly. Therefore, get hold of a fresh lemon, squeeze the juice and collect it in a container. Now, apply this raw lemon juice on your irritated skin and let it dry. Remove it with plain water.

Basil

This is an herbal plant that has been used as one of the most effective alternative medicine. It will be immensely effective in treating your itches on occasion of pregnancy too. It has anti fungal and anti inflammatory functions. It also contains a natural anesthetic called eugenol. This will numb the nerve endings and reduce itching considerably. So, arrange for a handful of fresh basil. Boil it in plain water for fifteen minutes. Next, remove it from flame and allow it to cool. Now, dip a clean wash cloth in it and squeeze it to dry. Finally, sponge your irritated skin with this damp wash cloth.

Mint

The Chinese consider mint as the most effective natural medicine against itching. It contains natural menthol which is loaded with anesthetic and antiseptic actions. Rosmarinic acid, a natural substance in mint provides anti-inflammatory attributes. So, there will be nothing more effective in subsiding itching when you are pregnant than freshly grounded mint paste. Alternatively, you can also make a mint infusion by boiling dried mint leaves in water. Soak a clean cloth in this infusion and wriggle it dry. Now, use it as a sponge on your irritated skin.

 

Thyme

Thyme is also a great solution for skin itching.Thymol, the volatile substance contained in thyme is loaded with anti inflammatory and natural anesthetic properties. If you see swelled and reddened skin along with itching, use thyme rinse. The natural anesthetic property makes the irritated skin numb. Further, the redness and swelling of your skin as a result of excessive itching will also get reduced.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a great medicine for a host of skin related complications. Thus, aloe vera can be equally effective in treating irritated skin due to excessive itching. It is packed with antiseptic qualities and curbs any chances of infection associated with itching. All you need to do is to cut off a fresh leaf from the plant and slit it open. Collect the transparent fluid that oozes out of the slit leaf. Apply the same on your irritated skin. It will render coolness and give you relief from itching.

Apricot oil

Whenever you feel like itching during pregnancy, keep a bottle for apricot oil handy. Apply the oil all over the irritated area and massage gently. It gets readily absorbed inside the skin and soothes irritation. It also hydrates and moisturizes the dry skin during pregnancy. Consequently, it curbs the stretched and itchy sensation.
