Motherhood: 6 Important post pregnancy changes

Motherhood is an exciting experience. When you were pregnant, you may have to face a lot of physical and mental changes. Restless nights and mood swings are unavoidable things in the life of a pregnant woman. All these changes happen due to the hormonal imbalance which is common in the body of a pregnant lady. The changes that occur in the body will continue after delivery also. Usually, many ladies find it difficult to adjust with the new atmosphere after delivery. Life after delivery is something different. Entry of a new member to your family makes your days busier. With all these changes, mentally you will be matured and an unusual tolerance will be seen in you.

If you watch yourself, you can see some unexpected physical changes in your body. Experts have listed some of them. Let us go through it.

1. Low sex drive

Due to the low value of estrogen, you will feel less interested in sex and romance. As we told you before, it is not easy to come back to the old life after delivery. Your routines will have a significant change. You will focus more on the baby and your family. After delivery, continuous rest is a must for the mother. Your body should get enough time periods to come back to its normal condition. During pregnancy, estrogen levels rise and after delivery it falls down suddenly. Due to these multiple reasons, mentally and physically you will not be in a mood to have sex or romance. Normally, this carelessness may disturb your husband, but if he understands, everything is okay.

2. Loose belly

Another common body change after pregnancy is loose belly, which is commonly called as ‘elephant belly’. When you are pregnant, your uterus will be larger than its original size. After pregnancy, uterus returns to its original position, but the mid section of your body will not return to the old position. That means, the skin stretches and due to this, stretch marks appear, and you will have a loose belly. It may change your body shape. Now you can apply creams to get rid of the stretch marks, but for maintaining body shape, you may have to follow exercises or undergo a surgery.

3. Bulged belly

After delivery, you need to follow strict diet and exercises. A lot of changes have been happened in your body. Uterus will return to its original size after 6 to 8 weeks. However, to gain the body structure back, you can follow a healthy diet. Post pregnancy exercises are other options. However, if you really follow the formulas, you can see the results slowly.

4. Swollen feet

During your pregnancy, your body weight changes. You will gain an average of 25-35 pounds during pregnancy. This extra weight will put an extra pressure on your feet. Due to this extra weight and some hormonal changes, you will have a swollen foot. The American college of Obstetrics and Gynecologists says that, due to the action of a hormone called relaxin, the muscle ligaments will relax and your feet appear flat. No doubt, you need to get a new pair of shoes.

5. Changes in the cup size

During your pregnancy period, you will gain some body weight. Due to this extra pound, your breast size will be increased. But after delivery, when you start breastfeeding the baby, things change. You can see that the breasts tend to droop. It is a common thing that in new mothers, even after they stop breastfeeding, their breasts will never return to the old state. Not only that, the size will be reduced after few days. Studies point out many things for this change in breast size. It never happens due to the breast feeding, but the reasons are here. They are, increase in the number of pregnancies, high BMI, larger breasts before pregnancy, old age and smoking habit, etc.

6. Loss of hair

This is something related to your beauty. During the pregnancy period, your body will have a higher level of estrogen. This hormonal change and the intake of nutritious food items result in the rapid growth of hair. You will have a long bunch of thick hair during that period. But, after delivery, hair start falling. It is a noticeable change. Anyway, don’t worry, after 6 to 12 months, hair loss will be stopped.

However, it will be better to understand about these post pregnancy changes before your delivery. You will be gradually adjusted with these, but you can regain your beauty and health by following certain health treatments.
