How to make herbal baby balm

We can define a balm as an aromatic oil or fragrant ointment which is used in order to heal, soothe and mitigate pain or mental distress. You can use it for various purposes like protecting baby’s bottom from getting dry or chapped, for softening dry skin spots of those little hands and feet and various other purposes. Here we will tell you the procedure to make herbal baby balm. Read on:

Time required: 4 to 8 hours

Resources required:

1.1 cup sweet almond oIl for preparing the base

2. 3 tablespoons of dry lavender flowers

3.1 table spoon of dried rose petals

4.1 tablespoon of dried calendula petals

5.1 teaspoon of dried chamomile flowers.

6. 1 and 1/2 teaspoon of jojoba oil.

7. 2 Table spoons of vitamin E oil containing 10,000 international units

8. 4 drops of roman chamomile, rose or lavender essential oil

9. 5 tablespoon of bees wax

Instructions:

1. You can start the process by grinding the herbs and converting them into powdered form. This can be done by using a clean coffee grinder, mortar and pestle or a bender.

2. Now warm the base oil in the topmost section of the double boiler pot.

3. Now add the powdered form of herbs and then cook the mixture by providing medium heat for about an hour or thirty minutes. This will release all the healing properties of the herbs into the oil.

4. You can now place the emollients into a glass bowl or stainless steel container.

5. Over the bowl hold a paper coffee filter inside a wire strainer. Then gently pour the base oil mixture and warm herbs into the bowl via the strainer.

6. Gentle pressure application is necessary on the coffee filter which will help in squeezing out almost all of the oil. Be careful while doing the process and avoid the breakage and pillage of herbs.

7. You can now melt the beeswax in the top most portion of the double boiler.

8. Simply add the oil and herb mixture and whisk by using a fresh whisk or the egg beater. Whisk the mixture till the mixture turns creamy and thick in composition.

9. You can now sterlize some jars of 2 to 4 ounce capacity in boiling water. Baby food jars and jelly jars can be used for this purpose.

10. You can fill each of these jars with the freshly prepared balms. Screw the lid tightly, wipe off the jar and label it.

11. If you want to use these balms for a period of more than 3 months, you must refrigerate them
