Would you like dining in a restaurant with ginormous girlâs rear in the middle? That sure sounds freaky but every word of it is true. Germaine, a Parisian restaurant, has a colossal girl sculpture wearing a yellow overcoat and high heels, in the midst of it to tempt (??) the customers. In fact the whole girl, Sophie, is painted yellow, maybe itâs due to the restaurants color code, who knows. Xavier Veilhan, a renowned Paris based artist, thought up this âmodern-dayâ plan of alluring customers and wedging her in there, when Thierry Costes (Germaineâs owner) asked him to throw in something for his eatery. Nevertheless, this is a very innovative and flamboyant technique of attracting the customers (i guess serving delicious food would help more).
The salient feature of Germaine is that this girlâs torso shoots up through the ceiling, into the second floor, where the VIPs sit and the first floor diners are left butt gazing (tempting?), sort of (see the pic). This sculpture is a replica of Xavierâs friend Sophie and one of the three that he had made of her, for certain exhibition. So, either be a VIP and enjoy the view or check out those high heels (or you know…), take your pick.
