Mary Jane Heaster, mother of the a 23-year old daughter was not convinced that the death of her daughter was natural. Her daughter Zona Heaster Shue died under inexplicable circumstances in Greenbrier in the year 1897. Mary had always been suspicious about Zona’s husband Erasmus Stribbling Trout Shue or Edward, a blacksmith who had moved to Greenbrier only a little while ago.
Mary Jane wanted to know the truth desperately; finally Zona’s apparition appeared before Mary and revealed the truth. Zona’s body was unearthed for autopsy and the truth came out, exactly what the apparition had told Mary. Edward had brutally murdered Zona by strangulation and breaking her windpipe. The jury was convinced and sentenced Edward to life imprisonment, however he died in jail just three years later.
The Will
The spirit of James L. Chaffin guided his second son James Jr. to his Will, which was written years before James Sr. died. The spirit appeared in the dreams of James Jr. and revealed the place the Will was hidden. James Jr. discovered the Will and filed a law suit, challenging the forged Will, brought out earlier by one of his brothers who had also died by the time. The jury was convinced and the will revealed by the ghost was honored.
