ePod eco-vehicle to use a combination of solar, wind and pedal power

Helio Matahari, a designer, inventor and filmmaker from The Pocket is on his way to build a new eco-vehicle. The car named the ‘ePod’ will blend solar energy, wind power and pedal-power together to provide a green transport. Matahari is striving to raise $5000 required to develop the prototype. The three-wheeled car has one wheel in the front and two at the rear.

Weighing some 80 kg, the ePod can be described as a combination of an electric car, a mobility chair and an exercise bike with optional pedals. It will be have batteries placed just beneath the floor, while solar panels with wind turbines will be placed right above the cabin. Matahari has designed the car taking inspiration from the Volkswagen L1 concept vehicle, but unlike the concept, his ePod will rule out the hybrid fuel system and bring in an electric one. Reduction in the weight will make it possible for the vehicle to accelerate at speeds of up to 60km/h.

Matahari has paid special attention to its design, making it absolutely comfortable for the young as well as the old. He has brought in a community foundation called the Vortex Village Foundation and a group of locals to give him some ingenious ideas for the prototype. The ePod is expected to be sold for just $2500.
