When we talk about reducing global emissions, in view of global warming events, it is mostly in terms of vehicular and industrial emissions. No doubt, these contribute to the direct carbon emissions, but the indirect sources of carbon should also be focused on. Indirect sources of carbon vary according to the lifestyle of people, the household articles, the energy requirement and dependence etc. Addressing some such indirect sources, the EPA set the ‘surf and turf’ standards for engines of pleasure boats, lawn mowers and weed trimmers. The catalytic converters that’s in use in the modern ‘green’ cars will be used in these machines.

Reducing carbon emissions across the globe and setting standards for the same is not an easy task. It needs the right approach to be lobbying for the same. Economy is always a setback, but it is high time we pay attention to the present scenario of economy in relation to social and environmental perspectives, and realize how much the future depends on it.

Defeating global warming, and nurturing the earth has to be inculcated into the thought process of people and organizations. When organizations like the EPA back such efforts, then change is definitely underway.
