If I would offer you 30 square meters of land to build a small apartment, you will definitely call me crazy. After all, how is it possible to make living possible in area equivalent to a parking space for a car? But, 39-year-old Fuyuhito Moriya makes impossible go possible with the commendable, innovative architect and resides with his mom in this ultra-small house.

Property:
Tokyo happens to be one of the most expensive cities, and so are the land prices here. Located in Tokyo, this property was sold as a parking for cars. Moriya turned this parking lot into a three-story house by spending nearly $500,000.

Accommodation:
Just in an area of 30 square meters (323 sqft) of land, which is roughly the size of two HDB rooms, this house claims to be the smallest house ever. Since, there are three floors, the total area estimates to nearly 900 sq ft of livable space, spacious enough for single family home.

Interiors & Exteriors:
According to Moriya, building rooms on top of the other was a better way out for spacious homes. The windows facing south are large enough to create the illusion of space. The use of spiral staircase in the shape of triangle has helped a lot to cut down the space.

The corners of this staircase are turned into small closets, to store shoes, and every single corner of the house is used to make the maximum use of it. Minimal furniture and clutter keep the small home tidy. Coming to the kitchen section, the hideaway cabinets helps to save space and are designed to store kitchen appliances, the sink size is reduced to half to save every bit.

What’s unique?
It’s a complete bargain within a limited budget in one of the expensive cities. It is also one of the smallest houses in Tokyo that can be an inspiration for many more who wish to have their own house, but lacks adequate budget. The only drawback is the privacy issue, which Moriya claims to solve soon.
