Help your child write the traditional ‘Dear Santa’ letter

We all know Christmas is a very busy time for Santa. From getting the sleigh ready to supervising the elves’ toys to rechecking if he hasn’t missed out any good girl and boy, Santa has a lot of work to do. But surely he doesn’t forget to read letters from your children. So, if you want your kids to have what they asked for on Christmas eve, help them in writing a letter to Santa with these tips:

1. Get in Christmas mood by putting on your favorite music or wearing your best holiday t-shirt. This way you’ll be ready to think about Santa.

2. Download templates like Dear Santa letter template, free letter template etc. A pen and paper would work as well, but these will just add to the glitz.

3. Start your letter with a good salutation or a greeting like “Dear Santa” or “Dear Santa Claus”. This way you’ll establish a connection with Santa right from the greeting stages.

4. Of course Santa knows who you are, but still make sure that he gets to know your name. You need to let him know that it’s you who is the one writing the letter as he receives a lot of letters each day.

5. You don’t write a letter every day to Santa, it’s just once a year, so do make sure to ask him how he’s been. It’s a good way to start a conversation before asking him for toys and goods. You can also ask him about the place where he lives, about his reindeer and elves and maybe about Mrs Claus also!

6. You can also tell him what have you been upto for the whole year. This is very important as you need Santa to know all the good things which you have done this year. Tell him if you have won any prizes at school, helped your parents and siblings with some work, been nice to the needy, made new friends etc. Santa of course knows all these things about you but needs to be reminded by you yourself. Then only will you get on Santa’s good boy/girl list.

7. Ask him what toys you want to have, but make sure to ask him politely. Now that you have asked him how he has been, tell him about the nice things you have done etc. It’s the right time to ask him about toys. Restrict your list to some 2-3 things which you dearly want. This way he’ll know what to get for you.

8. Close your letter with a signature and thank Santa for being so kind. After you have finished say something like, “Thank you Santa, for all the lovely gifts you get every year” or “I thank you Santa, for being so generous to me every year.” Santa loves courteous kids. So, finish with a warm closing like “Loads of love” or “Sincerely” or “Thank you” and then end the letter with your name.

9. Seal your letter by putting it in an envelope and stamp it. Lick the envelope to make sure it is sealed tightly and then write in the address.

10. Give the finished letter to your parents for them to send it and to make sure that Santa gets it before Christmas.
