CES 2013: Parrot Flower Power uses Bluetooth to tell you of your plant’s needs

Parrot, the French firm well known for the radio controlled AR.Drone lying quadrotor helicopter, is now all set to help avid gardeners with its new gardening tool, the Flower Power. The Parrot Flower Power keeps a regular tab on the health of your plants and sends a visual alert via Bluetooth to your iDevice when a plant needs attention. It is a smart wireless sensor, coupled with a mobile application, which checks different parameters to let gardeners know of their plants’ needs. All you need to do is to place the Flower Power device into the soil of your plant, and it measures whatsoever is needed to help the plants grow via sensors integrated into its base.

The Flower Power tool measures sunlight, humidity, temperature and fertilizer levels, and sends the information to Parrot Cloud via Bluetooth, which can be viewed on your smartphone or tablet. The app library has details about 6,000 plants and their specific needs. There is no word on pricing as of now, but the Parrot Flower Power is expected to be available by the end of 2013. Parrot has also announced to equip its AR.Drone with GPS, a better battery and improved video capabilities.
