Some tips that parents can use as a help in their bonding are

  • Understand your baby’s communication. She is communicating every moment and is able to judge your feelings as well. Your touch, your smile, your voice everything matters to your baby and the bonding.
  • Your baby demands certain things but is not able to vocalize her needs. If your understand them, it just clicks. This creates a sense of security in the mind of the baby and she begins to trust you even more.
  • Recognize the sensory needs. Your baby may be uncomfortable with some kind of touch or sound. It is essential that you identify those and free the baby from the trouble.
  • Watch out for expressions. Your baby responds to you by means of facial expressions. If you begin to study those it will help you in the long run. Try to figure out when she is hungry and when she is full.
  • Note what your baby enjoys. Some babies like cuddling while some want to be swayed. Some enjoy your soft voice while some tune to lullabies. Grasping her needs and providing the required thing at the right time will help the baby to rely on you, for her needs. This not only helps to bond with your baby but also gives a real experience of new parenthood.

Relax and don’t push into the relationship, instead enjoy it as a pleasant experience and the affection will eventually flow.
