This change in the people towards a more eco-friendly choice is due to many factors not the least of which is the economic factor.
The rising prices of oil and natural gas are reflected directly on the products that are based on these for their manufacture. One of these products is the chemical fertilizers. As such the price of these fertilizers is on the rise. Farmers in USA have found out a much safer and cheaper source for fertilizers. It is called bio-fertiliser.It has been a common practice in many indigenous societies to use biological waste as fertilizers. The modern version is the use of biosolids.
Biosolids are the end products of treated sewage from our homes. The government regulates the dumping of waste from our communities that goes into the wastelands. After a series of chemical, physical and biological treatments the waste is very useful as fertilizer to the plants and has no harmful effects. This fertilizer is the biosolids. Nationally, about 7 million tons of biosolids are produced annually, with more than half of it applied to land.
Some farmers and consumers may be averse to the thought of using the home waste for their food material, even though there is no proof of any untoward effect from this practice. These farms using bio-fertilizers have been tagged with orange flags planted across the fields. The other positive side to this technology is that they are completely eco-friendly and they reduce the pressure on oil and natural gas consumption.
