Bib styles

Fashion is not limited to any particular age group. It is not uncommon to see mothers buying fashionable bibs for their kids that are totally different in their looks and functional aspects from the ones that were used conventionally. Bibs are small pieces of cloth which are used to tie along the necks of the babies. These bibs prevent the cloths of the babies from getting dirty when they are fed or when some of them drool or spit. Nowadays, these bibs have been given new looks with improved functions. A small piece of clothing is now an important part of nursery accessory that have more functions to offer than mere protection of a small area of the chest.

Here are some bibs that are really innovative in their look and styles:

1. Coverall plastic bibs

These bibs have extended functions. They are broader in size and once tied they give full coverage to the front portion of the baby’s body. They look like shirts that do not have the back parts. To offer more protection against wetting and soiling of clothes, these bibs are made of plastics with soft acrylic form linings. The plastics used in making these bibs are skin friendly for the babies. Since they provide maximum coverage so they are best for babies or toddlers who are being trained to eat on their own. Thus their clothes are move vulnerable to spoilage. Moreover, kids who vomit frequently could also be given to wear these coverall bibs.

The demerits which these bibs suffer from are that they are expensive as compared to the traditional ones. Moreover, some kids feel uncomfortable to wear them.

2. Plastic scoop bibs with pockets

These bibs are developed than others in their functional aspects. They are made from plastics and have large pockets in them that can carry solid and liquid foods. While on the travel, if the mother wants she can keep munchies and other things in these pockets so that the kids can eat them whenever they feel like. Moreover, food that kids find difficult to swallow and mothers find it difficult to dispose off immediately due to certain unavoidable circumstances can also be kept in these bibs. They can be folded and carried conveniently.

The only demerit of these bibs is that some of them are stiff around the necks and tend to hurt the babies. So mothers need to be careful about this point.

3. Bibs made from leather

A bib made from leather is not a very common concept. But leather bibs are available in the market these days. These leather bibs are elegant to look at. They are water resistant too. So they offer improved protection of baby clothes against vomit, water and other such things. The leather that is used to make these leather bibs is soft to ensure that they are comfortable for the babies. Moreover, as with any other leather products, they last longer. The process of cleaning of these bibs is also much easier. The depositions can be wiped off with dry cloth following by a damp to prevent the appearances of stains.

The only demerit of these leather bibs is that they are not very easily available and commercial shops are still waiting to have them in their stores. Therefore, they have to be secured from online stores. Moreover, they are expensive too.

4. Bibs that can be thrown away

These disposable bibs are considered as hygienically better by some parents. They are made from papers that are biodegradable. Thus, they are efficient when parents suffer from shortage of time to wash the bibs of their babies. Using these bibs on a regular basis is an expensive affair and parents do not find it much convenient.

5. Soft towel bibs

Whenever we talk about bibs, the picture of towel bibs pops up in our minds. Towel bibs are the traditional forms of bibs. They are made from soft towels of the terry variety characterized by a loopy, furry feel. These bibs are suitable for babes who are fed with bottles or those who drool often. Some towel bibs are supported with plastic backing to prevent seepage of liquid. These bibs are easily available and cheaper.

The demerits of these bibs are that once stained the marks cannot be removed easily and makes the bibs look ugly.
