Bathroom Bubble at ISH 2013: An isolated bubble within a permeable living cocoon

The bathrooms of today are multifunctional spaces where basic needs meet the yearning for a sense of security and luxury. At ISH 2013, German Sanitary Industry Association (Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft), in cooperation with Messe Frankfurt, is presenting the “Pop up my Bathroom” trend forum where they will showcase the “Bathroom Bubble” project. Exploring possibilities of modern bathroom design, the Bathroom Bubble is thought of as an isolated bubble within a permeable living cocoon, creating a place to relax, think or be creative.

It creates boundaries in an environment where the boundaries are becoming increasingly faint. The goal behind the Bathroom Bubble is to look for solitude, tranquility and natural-looking background. Since the meaning of a perfect bathroom could be different for everyone, a Bathroom Bubble can be modern or antiquely opulent, organically natural or coolly angular, stuffed with ornamentation or floral elements or conscientiously purist. The Bathroom Bubble is seen as a perfect, personal space that is used by the inhabitants as the final refuge in a fast-paced everyday environment.

This year’s ISH, the leading trade fair for innovative bathroom design, energy efficient heating and air-conditioning technology and renewable energies, will take place March 12 to March 16, 2013.
