Animated characters: Role models for tots

Children love to identify themselves with some of their favorite cartoon characters and consider these virtual beings as their role models. Kids who are too small might lead to tension and fear among parents if they are allowed to play outside their home in the absence of parental vigilance. Bad influences from outside might have extremely unsatisfactory effect on the kids’ innocent mind. In this respect it is always better for the kid to find a role model in a cartoon character and watch cartoons in a moderate level. Here are some of the cartoon characters that can be great role models for kids:

1. Rapunzel, the princess

There is not much harm in considering cartoon characters as role models unless and until there is something that needs serious attention. Children who find their role models in these cartoon characters are too young to judge what is right and what is wrong for them. So, as long as kids identify themselves with positive characters it is fine. One such popular cartoon character is that of the confiscated princess, Rapunzel. If you find that your kid follows her then you can be rest assured that he or she will learn the importance of courage and bravery and love and not to forget how to take care of beautiful hair

2. Po, the Ninja warrior

Po is a Ninja warrior, famous for his heroism and bravery. Be happy if you see that your child follows Po as a role model. But also remember, the influence of the cartoon characters can be so immense on the kid that whatever he or she views, will get depicted in the kid’s actions. Thus, when the kid sees the violence adopted by his or her superhero in demolishing an enemy, the kid will preferably think of following the similar means in order to win over his or her friend or class mate in a quarrel. The innocent mind of the kid will prompt him or her in doing the similar thing in a similar situation as Po does, which might be lethal at times. Therefore, parental guidance is essential in order to make the kid understand there is a far difference between the real and virtual world. The tot is to be further trained to counterbalance the effects seen in cartoons in practical world.

3. Olivia, the baby pig

Olivia, the six years old baby pig can be a motivational character for your kid. A kid, who sees that Olivia, the high spirited, knowldegeable and energetic piglet will be inspired to concentrate on his or her studies too together with the attempt to acquire the other good traits of the cartoon character. It has also been found out that watching Olivia will often lead to development of interpersonal relationships, sense of teamwork, consciousness and value of learning among kids as the character reflects, in a greater intensity as compared to those kids who are totally cut off from cartoons.

4. Curious George, the monkey

George, the monkey is marked for his mischief. His over curiosity in everything often lands him into serious trouble. But at the same time it is also notable that he learns a way out from his own problems. Hence, Curious George can be a role model for tots. The naughtiness of the character will resemble that of the inherent characteristic of kids. Moreover, the kid will also learn to independently handle problems and work out possible solutions. Together with it, the negative aspects of too much inquisitiveness will also teach kids lesson.

5. WordGirl, the alien

A descendent of planet Lexicon, WordGirl is the futuristic epitome of girl power. She has the courage, strength and power to demolish her enemy. Thus, girls will really love to idolize WordGirl as their role model and lurk about in the house behaving like this Super Woman. A great deal of difficult but essential English vocabulary used in the cartoon will also help in the learning process of your little princess too. You might often find WordGirl and her monkey use words like flabbergasted, in retrospect, megalomaniac, awe struck, which will enrich your baby girl’s stock of words too.
