Al-Gore-in-Dinner-Menu-Controversy

In a recent dine out in occasion of the rehearsal dinner prior to her daughter’s marriage, Al Gore and his family were served with Chilean Sea Bass, or commonly known as Patagonian toothfish in crustacean restaurant recently, People magazine confirmed. Patagonian toothfish is considered as a rare species and is a victim of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing activities. Rebeka Keeble of Human Society International commented,

More than 50 per cent of toothfish traded is illegally caught, and includes juveniles vital to the ongoing toothfish population…Al Gore could choose something else to eat

This story has been widely accepted by the bloggers all over the world. In various news channels this incident has been published, creating a kind of embarrassment for Al Gore, the most prominent personality for his green planet mission and known for his campaigns increasing awareness towards natural conservation. This incident proves the gradually increasing public awareness and it is a kind of good sign for the human civilization.

Al Gore himself is dedicated to create awareness towards environmental issues. This entire row suggests that people are being more and more aware about environmental issues. However, later it was disclosed that the fish served to Al Gore family were not caught illegally. They were from a well managed population of toothfish, and did not violate any environmental issue at all. A spoke person cleared the matter in a press release.

The entire thing clearly says we, the people are being more and more conscious about conservation of natural resources. This is indeed a welcome move which if followed properly, can certainly bring back the equilibrium in natural ecosystem.
