Children are mostly prone to ear infections. Also known as acute otitis media, the infections can be very painful and, though very rarely can cause long term damage. In the lines of this concern, Czech scientists developed a vaccine which could help prevent ear infections in young children.
The British Medical Journal reported the vaccine was effective against two bacteria – the streptococcus pneumoniae and haemophilus influenzae. But a UK ear expert said there concerns about vaccinating children are against what was generally a mild infection.
