U.S. recalls thousands of 'Made in China' products

In another setback to the credibility of Chinese manufacturers, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued another recall of more than 300,000 Chinese-made items. The recall is basically includes those ‘Made In China’ products which are speculated to have excess of lead paint, that can be harmful. Lead paint can cause brain damage and lead to other brain disorders. The recall also comprise of 250,000 SpongeBob SquarePants address books and journals.

These books were and journals were imported by Martin Designs Inc, and sold all over U.S. between June 2006 and July 2007. The recall also takes in Mattel Inc’s sold 436,000 die-cast toy cars. However, despite the list of recalls, Chinese officials still maintain that their goods meet the U.S. quality standards. The latest recall includes 66,000 spinning tops and 4,700 pails. The list doesn’t end here. The Commission has also asked consumers to return metal jewelry brought in by TOBY N.Y.C. and children’s charm bracelets by New Jersey-based Buy-Right Designs Inc.

The Chinese market today stands at crossroads and unless they don’t choose a right path, it would be difficult to sustain them in the global race.
