Understanding the use and medicinal benefits of Manuka Honey

Manuka-Honey

As you probably know, Manuka honey has a wide range of health benefits – but there are three main ways it can be used in: to treat wounds, aid digestion, or for skincare. Each of these ways of using Manuka honey is fairly unique; however, you need to know what to do to reap its benefits.

Treating Wounds

wound If you want to use Manuka honey to treat wounds such as small cuts and scrapes or burns, you need to apply it to the affected area. One of the best ways to do that is to first apply the honey to a bandage and then apply the bandage to the wound.

It is worth noting that Manuka honey coupled with the fluid from the wound will soak through a thin bandage very quickly – which is why you would want to use a sealed or waterproof dressing. If you don’t have one then try wrapping the initial dressing with a thicker bandage afterwards.

Aiding Digestion

Aiding DigestionIf you want to use Manuka honey to aid your digestion, you should eat it – either by itself or by mixing it into some other food. It is recommended that you take anything between 1 to 3 tablespoons per day, though it is up to you to decide how much of it seems to work best for you.

Keep in mind that aside from aiding digesting, eating Manuka honey is nutritional as it boosts your immune system, eases a sore throat, and much more. After all, it is a good idea to take a tablespoon or two of Manuka honey on a regular basis as it will help your general health and wellbeing.

Skincare

SkincareManuka honey’s use in skincare is varied, and it can help reduce inflammation, soothe irritation caused by acne, alleviate the symptoms of eczema, and do much more. It is best applied as a mask, wherein you can apply a thin layer over the area in question and leave it on for at least 15 minutes. Additionally you may mix it with regular honey or beeswax, as both are purported to increase its effectiveness.

Getting hold of manuka health Manuka honey is easy, and you should be able to grab a jar for yourself easily. Although Manuka honey is safe and has no real side effects, you should be careful about consuming too much of it if you have diabetes or some other medical condition or any allergies. When all’s said and done – if you have any doubts or questions, it is always best to consult your doctor before using it. If they give the go ahead, you can then try it out.
