Tobacco ads and films prompt children to smoke

The credit for the growing number of smokers under the age of 18 in US goes to films, videos, advertisement and give-away samples, a new report has uncovered this fact.

This report is based on the analysis of 51 studies conducted since 1981 covering 141,949 people. According to an estimate, about 1.4 million children under the age of 18 start smoking after being prompted by tobacco advertisements. That is the reason why this study asks for a ban on all tobacco promotions.

The suggestion looming out of this study seems rational because kids under the age of 18 are unable to discern between good and bad. Moreover, the exposure to these tobacco advertisements makes them more vulnerable to tobacco smoking.
