Shingle Vaccination: A must for senior citizens

shinglesonback

Are you getting some weird rashes on your skin? Are they itching all the time? Beware, those are probably shingles. The U.S. Center for disease control(CDC) advices people aged 60 or above to get some shingles vaccination. Zostavax seems to be the ideal candidate for the job i.e. removing shingles.

Since October 2006, the CDC has recommended the medicine to people. Developed by Merck and co., Zostavax does a pretty good job of taking care of shingles. What do you go through when you have shingles? Well, here’s a quick look at the nasty disease and several aspects.

The disease is a kind of virus infection. The varicella-zoster virus is responsible for the shingles. The same virus causes chicken pox. When someone is infected by the disease, the particular person gets rashes on the body and face. Excruciating pain is often followed by blisters. Pneumonia, blindness as well as brain inflammation or even death can occur from shingles. I think death from rashes sounds kind of weird. But,it’s true.

Zostavax seems to be the ultimate cure for this disease. CDC does have some vaccination rules that medical practitioners should go by. Some of the people who can’t be vaccinated are: a pregnant woman or with tuberculosis, patient of leukemia, other harmful drugs.

Canada is taking a similar step against the shingles vaccination. They have their own version of shingles vaccination guide. It seems like people are sort of coming down on the shingles vaccination thing.
