Sleep disorders – inactive brain, no stimulation

Being new parents is definitely one of the greatest pleasures, but lack of sleep surely isn’t. It’s not new that lack of sleep causes a lot of brain related ailments. But how much it affects one’s mental health was a debatable question. Now, we can’t just ignore the fact that in our wishes to lead a modern life style, we care more about looks and the countenance of the outer selves. In this process, the brain gets little or no attention in our day-to-day lives and we forget the most important factor that anything overused will have a side effect. And here we are talking about the brain. Can we afford to deprive it the required rest? After all we are not machines.

The Berkeley and Harvard Medical School, University of California at Berkeley have recently found out that it is essential for one to get proper sleep in order to deal with every day challenges. Now, if we need prove for this, then here it is. Amygdale is the part of the human brain that generally makes brain react to stimulation.

In layman’s words, the siren inside human mind that alerts in time of danger remains highly active when we are awake and its gets overstressed if the brain doesn’t get enough rest and sleep. So the overstressed amygdale eventually affects the prefrontal cortex and causes the termination of operations or ceases its operations.

Our brain needs essential chemicals to fight stress and the prefrontal cortex, which is responsible for this secretion is unable to allow the brain to be logically active. Finally causing frustration, depression, mood disorders and other stress related disorder.

The researchers have also noted that this kind of disorder means that without proper sleep we are making our brains go ages back into the primitive times when the brain wasn’t as active as it is now and finally it would be unable to translate thoughts into contexts and create required reactions in us.
