Treatment of lung cancer varies on the types, size, location, and extent of the disease. It depends on the general health of the patient too. An experimentation of a lung cancer vaccine is under way to fight with the lung cancer.
The two-phase clinical trial is on the card. In the group one, patients, who respond well to Chemotherapy but not fit for surgery, will get the vaccination first. The second group patients who have had their tumors surgically removed will be next one.
Dr. Eckhard R. Podack, chairperson of Microbiology and Immunology, has developed the vaccine. He said that there is a better setting for a vaccination in case of lung cancer. The immune system responds much better in case of minimal or no detectable disease.
