Mexican President withdraws drug law under U.S. pressure

Mexican President, Vicente Fox withdraws a bill that was for legalized possession of small amount of drugs. He has sent it back to Congress to do some changes. The decision came after U.S. officials proposed Mexico to stiffen the law to protect the drug tourism.

Earlier, the bill was passed by Congress and received several criticisms. It was to abolish criminal punishment for custody of a small amount of heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and cocaine. U.S. officials have expressed concern that it could increase drug tourism.
