Mental workout can be a good remedy for Alzheimer patients

Mental workouts may play an effective role in slackening the progress of Alzheimer’s disease. This finding was put under the light by the researchers after they conducted some tests on lab mice.

During the course of study, researchers found that regular mental workouts were helpful in holding back the degenerative brain disease at bay to a large degree for about a year.

Throwing more light on the issue that how important learning is Frank LaFerla, professor of neurobiology and behavior at UC Irvine said:

This study shows learning can delay the neuropathology of Alzheimer’s disease in mice genetically altered to develop this insidious disorder, and learning also delays the cognitive decline.

On the basis of these findings, it can really be said that indulging in works like reading, crosswords or any other kind of works that require mental skill can be a good way to keep Alzheimer’s disease at bay.
