Mediterranean diet helps us to remain healthy and fit. According to the Spanish researchers, the traditional Mediterranean diet is rich in healthy fats from olive oil or nuts.

The Archives of Internal Medicine has published a report on this diet and said that diets rich in healthy fats offer a better heart prescription than diets that limit fat altogether.

It has been proved to be helpful for older Americans to develop their cholesterol level, blood pressure as well as blood sugar levels. Mediterranean diet does it better than a low-fat diet does.

Fruits, vegetables and whole grains, low consumption of red meat and processed foods are said to be Mediterranean style of diet.
