Kaitlyne McNamara is a carefree girl now. In case you do not know, she is one of the seven young patients who have received a lab-grown bladder. What is so unique about this is that the bladder was fully grown in a lab. By taking a very small portion of the patient’s tissue from their existing bladder they grow the new bladder and it’s muscle cells in an incubator and after few weeks the full grown organ is ready to be implanted. Research is also undertaken on other tissues and organs like blood vessels, windpipe, heart, liver and pancreas and once it is complete it will save the lives of thousands of people.
