Is your bad breath due to PPIs?

If you take drugs like Prilosec or Prevacid to get rid of heartburn or acid reflux disease, then perhaps your might get away with these problems, but do you know that another problem known as halitosis or bad breath may engulf you.

Researchers firmly believe that class of medication, which includes Prilosec or Prevacid, known (PPIs) that stands for proton pump inhibitors, is chiefly responsible for bad breath. Actually, PPIs lessen the production of acid by blocking the enzyme in the wall of the stomach that produce acid.

In this regard these researchers examined about 23 adult patients with bad breath and found that 75 percent of those patients were having PPIs.

So it means both doctors as well as patients will have to seek out an alternative to PPIs.
