Drugs to regenerate damaged heart in the offing!

Do you know some creatures are luckier than mammals because their damaged hearts can be regenerated after heart attack?

Dr. Felix Engel and Mark Keating, MD have put this revelation under light after testing their medicine on rats that have had heart attacks. This treatment requires two types of drugs – first one is known as p38 MAP Kinase, which helps heart cells grow and the second type of drug is known as FGF1 – that stimulates the growth of new blood vessels.

However, doctors are not sure that the use of this medicine will also be suitable for mammals because first, the drug FGF1, that stimulates the growth of blood vessels, can also result in the growth of cancer cells and second drug p38 MAP kinase may damage liver very badly.

Therefore, still it would not be right to use this drug on human beings.

Well, sooner or later, these drugs would be modified in such a way that their use will not be injurious to human health.
