Brief Introduction of Diarrhea

Diarrhea is not a life threatening disease. It is also known as intestinal flu. An individual suffering from diarrhea stays uncomfortable all the time. Diarrhea is usually caused by consumption of unhealthy food that upset stomach. Food allergy or food infection due to bacteria leads to diarrhea.

Types of Diarrhea

–    Acute Diarrhea: It usually lasts for no longer than a week.
Causes of Acute Diarrhea: Food poisoning, parasites, drugs, viral gastroenteritis, bacterial enterocolitis and traveler’s diarrhea. Symptoms include vomiting, nausea and abdominal cramping.

–    Chronic Diarrhea: It lasts for 3 to 4 weeks.
Causes of Chronic Diarrhea: IBS, IBD, colon cancer, endocrine diseases, constipation and laxative abuse.

Consequences of Diarrhea

Diarrhea needs to be treated at the earliest just like any other disease. Prolonged diarrhea has major consequences to the human body. Main consequence is the rapid decline in health which occurs due to lack of vitamins and minerals absorption. On the other hand, dehydration could make a permanent place in your internal system.

With avoidance and inclusion of the above mentioned food items you can see yourself getting healthy within few days. Consume smaller amounts of food but several times in a day. Keep an electrolyte balance of 2 teaspoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of salt in 1 liter water. Drink 2 liters of water/day and you will definitely see positive changes in your health.
