China wants to fight HIV/AIDS somewhat differently and for that, it is going to promote the use of condom among the gay community. According to an estimate, about 20% of the homosexuals do not use condom during sexual intercourse and this has given Chinese government a reason to worry about. About 300,000 gay people dwell in Beijing alone and 3 percent of those gays are HIV infected.
In the recent years, China has seen a great hike in HIV/AIDS cases and according to the ministry of health, in the last 10 years 39,644 new cases of HIV/AIDS have been detected. Chinese government has taken a commendable step to curb the spread of the deadly disease. However, I think not only the gay community but other people should be educated about the importance of safe sex.
