Artificial transporters: MIT engineers blood vessels

engineered blood vessels

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), one of the biggest research universities has come up with a way to create tiny engineered blood vessels. This will be a huge breakthrough in the field of medicine when it comes to the foray. As the researchers have found a way to develop and control cell generation, this would help in the creation of blood vessels in human body.

Nano-scale patterning is used for this process. This would help in a great way to humans, as inactive parts of a human body could be given a new life. A sense of hope is in the near future.

Submitted as a research paper in MIT, this work would help in transplantation of tissues for different parts of the body such as the liver, kidney. These blood vessels act as transporters carrying blood to and away from the heart. So creating this technically is no small effort. This should definitely play a major role in every medical condition. To know more about the paper and creation of these artificial cells, click on the below given link.
