Certain antibiotics can quickly recover the asthma patients. It may have a beneficial anti-inflammatory effect. But experts caution that further research is necessary before prescribing it. Antibiotics are not formally approved to treat asthma. Some physicians do prescribe it to asthma sufferers.
How it worked remains an open question. Further trials are necessary to establish the mechanism by which it acts to relieve symptoms from asthma attacks. Until then, it is too soon to change current clinical practice.
